This is book about young love. Sparrow Fisher is young and inexperienced. Until she meets Ian Sterling, that is.

Ian is a somewhat famous musician that Sparrow has felt drawn to even before they actually met. Their relationship has all of the ups and downs of real relationships, especially familiar to anyone that has ever gone through a long-distance relationship.

At times, the relationship is challenged and the characters are forced to ask the question-is true love enough?

So, I should say that I had high expectations for this book considering all of the rave reviews I read prior to reading it myself. With that being said, I found it rather slow from the start…

Finally, the story started to pick up when Sparrow moves to New York and finds some trouble in the name of Asher (another famous person in the music industry). This part of the story really drew me in and I thought it would play a much bigger role in the story than it did but it kind of got swept under the rug, for the most part.

Towards the end of the book, something strange happens. It was like all of a sudden the story was being written in fast-forward. Everything seemed very rushed and I wasnt a fan. I think this is why it took me so long to finish the book.

Some things I liked:

I liked that Ian had an adorable nickname for Sparrow- ‘little bird’

“Little Bird, our love has been hard-earned from the very beginning. It is more precious to me than anything on earth. I can’t just let go of it. And I won’t stop fighting for it.” ~ Ian

I liked the friendship dynamic between Sparrow and Tessa (her best friend and college roommate).

“Books,” I say firmly. “I’m crazy about books.”
He laughs. “Okay. That’s cool.”
“I like to read them and write them,” I say shyly.
Hello, my name is Sparrow and I am a nerd.”

I will say that Willow Aster is a great writer and I think she has a lot of potential to write some really great love stories. I just didn’t connect with this one as much as I had anticipated. Better luck next time I guess…

I give this 2.5 stars
